Happy Birthday, Liz

This is a gift for my friend, Liz.
I was supposed to give it to her on Saturday, which is her birthday, but I'm seeing her today, so I finished it in time to give it to her early.

Well I'm quite glad I did this. It's rather funny looking, but I'm surprised at how it turned out. Her gift was originally going to be a painting of her and her fiance, but Liz loves peacocks. I figured to save the portrait for a wedding gift instead.

I really love the symbolism of the peacock and their feathers. It's rather broad, different cultures have different meanings for it. In Christianity, they represent immortality and renewal. In India, it's a symbol of beauty, royalty, compassion, and soul. Buddhists use their feathers during purification ceremonies. I'm sure I could go on, they are really quite lovely. The birds themselves are very fascinating creatures :3
